Exclamation REAL assassin... Str8 up NINJA

First time playin GW. I have played for about 2 weeks now, I have a lvl 20 A/Mo and have a plan for my assassin. It tends to die alot, my lack of skill is probably the issue, but here is my idea. Please post any ideas that would help.

I am new, so I dont know all the math and what not, but here it goes.

Max critical strikes---Most this build could afford (ie some runes -health)
8 into shadow arts
Rest into dagger mastery ???- How much would b left for dags?

Elite- Way of the Assassin --- (%17 ias %29 crit)
Critical Eye --- (%13 crit, 1 E per crit)
Critical Defense --- (%75 block 9 sec, refreshes every crit)
Way of the Fox (8pts in SA) --- (23 sec dur, 4 hits unblockable)

Unsuspecting Strike --- 90+ dam (before crit)
Golden Fang Strike --- Deep wounds
Death Blossum --- AoE, high dual damage, quick recharge

Heart of Shadow (8 in SA) --- 94 heal, tele out of trouble

Ok, the theme/concept is Quick, percise deadly attacks (ASSASSIN). Cause some pain, retreat and heal if needed, then get back in there and F things up.

Pros --- High crit = high damage + efficient energy
High block chance (75%) = low damage intake
Spurts of unblockable-ness = deadly
When in doubt Shadow the F out! = sneaky + evasive

Cons --- IDK, ill still probly die alot lmao.

What do you guys think? Deadly and sneaky was my idea of an assassin.

GW assasins dont really work that way tbh. As an Assassin what you should look at is either tanking or speedclearing using Shadow form OR looking at some critical strikes builds

To have decent survivabillity as a sin it is always good to pre prot. This means getting a hero, normally the minion master and micro managing protective spirit on you. This will save your butt many times, and most people will agree. Also don't rush in all rambo style in every mob, this is particularly important when playing in harder areas, let you heroes take initial aggro and make sure your armour is max and you preprot. Also try and buy insignias which add armour instead of health, this is my opinion and some will say survivor are better but I think things like blessed insiginas and things like that are more useful. Also if you have eye of the north, get the skill asuran scan and replace it with way of the fox, its more useful.

How do you propose that someone would get through the rest of pve that isn't speed clearable with SF?

Did you get all 200 attribute points? Someone else can disect your build

There is other ways to play an Assassin besides tanking and SC. As a new player, I'd try to stay away from PvX as well till you get the hang of things. When you are more comfortable with the play style of your profession, then check out some of the builds there for some tips.

If you're having trouble with survivability though, spec into Shadow Arts. There is a bunch of healing abilities in there that will help you out. I personally enjoy Flashing Blades as my Elite, and it allows you to spec into Dagger Mastery to get the most out of your combo.

Top that with some Shadow Arts (Shadow Refuge, Shroud of Distress, Way of Perfection, Heart of Shadow, etc) and you got some good heals with a great chance to block.

Hopefully those help ya with Survivability.

Thanks for the SA advice. Do you think heart of the shadow is a decent heal/escape plan or no?

It's mainly the attack speed of your attack chain.
Jagged Strike (1sec recharge) Fox Fangs (3sec Recharge) and Death Blossom (2sec recharge).
Unsuspecting strike is powerfull, but if you have a party that has some sort of AoE damage you'll be hitting the +90% health cap that will trigger the bonus damage from Unsuspecting Strike very fast.
That and it's a skill that costs 10 energy. Even with a high rank in Critical Strikes you'll run out of energy during longer battles.

Yes that's exactly whats being said and its correct, Jagged and Fox both have a quick activation time and a low recharge making them much more spammable which matters alot.

They attack faster, so you get to your dual faster, which does way more damage (and AoE) than lead or offhands. Plus, they all recharge fast, so you can spam your chain indefinitely. Your chain will do more damage on the initial spike, but then you'll be sitting there for longer doing less damage (either because you're out of energy, or because all the foes are below 90% hp).

It works to get you out of a tight spot and toss a little heal on it at that to help you recover if you get too overwhelmed.

Sins aren't a good class for beginning players anymore, they are only good at. Speed clearing which new players won't know how to do. Honestly, you would save yourself alot of trouble by makig a dervish instead. They just got a huge update and u can put on 3 random enchantments and 3 random attacks then you go blow shit up.

TY for your input, but Im playing an assassin bc I like the idea of it. I know first hand its not super easy, but im gona try and make it work.

I will update the info on jagged strike and fox. I will be getting all these skills soon, and will be testing them out. I read somthing about aura of displacement or something which seemed cool. Get in, then when I want teleport out. All of your guys input has been helpful. I guess my last question is, out of your guys experience, what skills are %100 needed to b successfull. Or, can i tinker and choose what i want to choose. Im not asking for the most efficient build, but asking if its possible to find what i like without getting stomped on. TY

Honestly if you played both classes you'd realize assassins still kills faster, just don't be the first to aggro and you shouldn't have too many problems.

"killing faster" is as vague as you can get.

Dagger spam usually results in more stuff dying though.

...What?

Dagger sins can kill a single enemy faster than anything in the game. The advantage of the dervish is it's ability to kill multiple enemies at a time (or heal things, if one is using AoD).

"more stuff dying" is still pretty vague though.

Dagger spam is able to reduce the health points on a monster remarkably fast and thus inducing it's death in a short span of time.
